|Welcoming speech at Thailand TESOL International
Conference 2016 in Khon Kaen
|Distinguished speakers, guests of honor, representatives from international affiliates, presenters, participants, ELT colleagues, ThaiTESOL members, ladies and gentlemen. As President of Thailand TESOL, it is my great pleasure to have this precious opportunity to welcome you to the 36th Thailand TESOL International Conference 2016 in Khon Kaen.
I would like to begin by acknowledging the many people and organizations that have contributed to making this conference happen. First of all, I would like to extend my profound gratitude to the conference organizing committee members for the efforts and sacrifices they have made in their devotion to preparing for this great conference. My special appreciation also goes to the RELO in Bangkok, the Australian Embassy, AUA, the British Council, and TESOL International, for their continued assistance and generous financial support. They all deserve our recognition and thanks.
Under this year’s conference theme “The Changing Landscape of ELT: Empowerment through Glocalization,” we will learn from many locally and internationally renowned speakers who have traveled both short and long distances from more than 16 countries to make this conference special and fruitful. This conference has assembled a wide assortment of presentations, including three plenary sessions, 11 featured presentations, about 100 paper break-out sessions, 22 workshops, two colloquiums, one panel discussion, and about 10 poster presentations.
With many domestic and international scholars and teachers taking part in the conference as participants and presenters, I truly hope that you will find it both an enriching and an inspiring event. I also hope that you will be able to strengthen your networking with old and new friends. Have a rewarding time and enjoy the conference!
